First Trimester Update
Hi friends! I've got a little bump update for you today! I mean, for those of you that are actually interested in that sort of thing... or am I the only one that loves reading pregnancy blogs? ha!
I am 15 weeks today so I am officially one week out of the first trimester and all I can say is hallelujah! I truly can't complain because I know so many women have it worse, but this one was a doozy! I am feeling SO much better now (unless I get too full or ya know, smell something funky) and I could not be more thankful! There were about five weeks there that did me in so I am beyond grateful to be on the other side! I'll try and answer some of the questions I've been getting as best as I can!
When did you find out you were pregnant?
I found out I was pregnant at exactly five weeks. Other than feeling a little tired, I felt completely normal!
When did you start feeling bad?
I hit six weeks on a Monday and was surprised I was still feeling fine because that's when I started feeling bad with Anniston. Then Wednesday hit and I felt like I had been run over by a truck. From 6 1/2 weeks to 11 weeks I pretty much felt nauseous all day long and was EXHAUSTED.
What were your main symptoms?
I felt nauseous during most of the day, but more so in the morning when I first woke up and then after eating dinner. If something didn't sit right or I got too full then there was a good chance I was actually going to get sick. Also, I was SO tired. Anniston is down to one nap a day and I was basically counting down the minutes so I could take a nap too. Chasing a toddler while feeling sick is no joke people.
When did you start feeling better?
Just a couple days before I hit 11 weeks there was a major shift and all of a sudden the nausea was pretty much gone and I was slightly less tired. I can still feel sick if I eat "too" much (aka a normal amount for me that I all of a sudden can't handle), but it's not near as bad. Even though I am still pretty tired come midday, I am able to push through and actually get some stuff done. That doesn't mean I'm not asking Miles if we can go to bed at 8pm though. :)
Have you had any cravings?
I haven't had that "one" thing I have to have. With Anniston I had to have french fries and donuts. I wonder why I gained more than I planned with that one. ;) This time it hasn't been one thing, but just in the moment I'm like "Oh my goodness I need ______ now!" Then I get it and the craving is gone! A few of those have been ice cream with pretzels in it, pickles, sour patch kids, carrots, and root beer.
Any aversions?
Most vegetables, meats, and ALL seafood. So I'm basically eating all the fruit trying to stay healthy over here. Ha!
How have your workouts been?
Workouts? What workouts? Ha... just kidding... sort of. I found out I was pregnant the day after I ran my half marathon so technically I was in pretty decent shape. I was hoping this would help me stick with it because I did not last time. I did for about a week and a half before I started feeling absolutely awful and to be honest I pretty much quit after that. I would try to squeeze a run in here and there, but would feel pretty miserable during it.
I finally started going out for some light jogs again as I have started to feel better. I am no where near where I was, but at least it's something! I also just started back at True40 (check it out here!) and have been LOVING it. True40 is studio that provides a full body workout with cardio and strength training with a huge focus on your core. I love it because it is such a challenge, but also not hard on your body! Most of it I can do while pregnant, but the instructors are awesome and always offer a modification for the few things I can't do (certain ab exercises). Use code: courtneyf if you want to try a free class! I'd love to have some workout buddies with me!
How does this pregnancy compare with Anniston's pregnancy?
They have been pretty similar with the exhaustion and nausea, but with Anniston I had a few other symptoms I haven't experienced this time around. With Anniston I never actually got sick, I just felt like I could all day. I have been sick quite a few times this time around. I gained about three pounds my first trimester with Anniston which I blame on all the french fries that helped me feel better. :) At my 12 week appointment I hadn't gained any weight yet, but I am sure that will change at my appointment tomorrow. ;)
Do you have any guesses about the gender?
You guys, I have NO idea. Miles and I were both pretty sure Anniston was a girl and we were right on that one. This time I literally have NO clue. Miles thinks boy, but I couldn't make a guess even if you made me! We are completely happy either way! And we find out TOMORROW! What is your guess??
Even with the not so fun stuff that the first trimester brings, I love being pregnant. I loved all of it with Anniston and I am so excited to experience it all again. I didn't really start "popping" until I was over halfway pregnant with Anniston and I am already popping now with this little one! It caught me off guard at first, but I am truly so excited and plan on showing it off! Hopefully people know it's a real baby and not just a food baby... even though that's probably in there too. ;) Thank you all so much for all of your kind words since Miles and I announced this special news! We are so excited to be on this adventure with all of you!
